Dennis Rush

Dennis Rush is an artist and poet who lives in Dutchess County.

"I’ve lived all over the country and each place has its own creative biases.

The South is rural and sentimental. The Northwest is natural and spiritual. The Midwest is folk inspired. Cities like NYC and Boston are intellectual and experimental.

The beauty of the Hudson Valley, which maybe you would only notice by attempting to be creative in other places, is that you can be whatever type of creative you want to be in the Hudson Valley without being an outsider. It’s a place free of cultural artistic prejudices. At least if you feel any prejudices, you can stay in the Valley and go 20 miles and find 'your people.'"
